Volunteer with KICC.
KICC is 100% run by generous people giving up their time for the club. In return for their time qualified leaders are given free places for their children to attend the club. Currently this is the best route to joining the club and by recruiting new leaders we can take an extra 5 children each week. If you are a qualified leader already and would like a place for your child please contact us directly. We use our club subscription fees to reimburse additional training costs and to help train new leaders so if you would like to start off as a mountain bike leader we can guide you through the process. You can find out more in the downloads section below but we do expect a certain level of commitment from leaders before we can assist with financial reimbursements.
If leading groups on some of the world's best MTB trails isn’t for you we also need helpers to assist with events, weekly sign on and generally we are happy for offers of any skills. In the past we have run really cool workshops for our riders with top professionals from various fields.

Coaching at KICC
Coaching follows a technique continuum for our group allocation. In general the riders all improve every year through 'just riding' their bikes but to enhance this learning we have a small team of British Cycling qualified coaches. Level 1 coaches generally work with the younger riders in non-technical areas. Level 2 coaches can progress our riders into riding MTB trails and our level 2 or level 3 Mountain Bike Coaches can coach anything a dirt crit or a worldcup race circuit is likely to throw at the riders. KICC has been lucky to have had riders go on to race at World Cup and World Championship level and they all started out on the wee stuff. Becoming a coach with KICC has the same benefits as becoming a leader but as the majority of our sessions are in a led ride format . Please let us know if you are a leader or coach though as this may also be a route into the club for your riders if you are considering joining our waiting list.
ADULT coaching
We have coaches, although we are a kids club we also have a whole load of parents. If you are a parent of a KICCer and would like some coaching please let us know.
Youth Leadership
KICC is a proud member of Youth Scotland and Youth Borders and we believe in empowering our riders to make good choices. Working with Go-Where Scotland, The Adventure Syndicate, British Cycling and Youth Scotland we will offer various opportunities for our riders to take on more aspects of leadership to develop their confidence and inter personal skills. In the summer of 2021, in partnership with Youth Scotland our riders created KICC The Movie, A Fairy Tale which was aired as part of the Peebles Outdoor Film Festival
Waiting lists
KICC is a popular club, we currently have a waiting list that grows each and every week. If you are on the waiting list we are sorry but we cannot give an indication of how long a wait you may face. We can only accept new riders when existing riders drop out or when we recruit new volunteer leaders. Qualified MTB leaders who are able to assist regularly can bypass the waiting list for their children as this helps open up space to new members.
